There is a breakdown in the nucleus of the family structure. Due to the lack of guidance and role models, there is a subsequent rise in violence, the use and distribution of drugs and gang related involvement with our youth.
There is an extensive need in the community for productive relationships between responsible adults and "at-risk" youth. Particularly in economically deprived-low income communities.
Many of our young people have little to no adult support or supervision in place to help them plan or achieve academic or professional goals.
Furthermore, the constant exposure to negative role models and negative environmental stimuli produces destructive results. As a result, there is a need for consistent and purposeful interaction with positive, responsible adults in a positive stimulating environment.
